January 17: Jasper National Park

Jasper is the largest national park in the Canadian Rockies. It offers hiking in the park, skiing, and wildlife viewing. It has sightseeing and guided tours through its wilderness. You can go white water rafting or take a helicopter tour. You can also go dog-sledding, horseback riding, or fishing. You can go in the summer or winter, as they offer unique activities for each season.

January 15/16: Carthage

When visiting Carthage, you can take a trip to see the old amphitheater, built in the second century. There is also an archaeological park for history buffs who want to scout out the old ruins. There is also an oceanographic museum dedicated to the local marine life. There are museums and many other sites to see at these ruins.

January 14: Albertina Museum

This museum, located in Vienna, Austria, contains one of the world's largest collections of graphic art, from the Gothic to the contemporary. It has been destroyed by bombs in its past but was recently renovated and reopened.

January 13: Salvador de Bahia

On this day, the festival of Lavagem de Igreja do Bonfim begins and lasts for the next eight days. African hymns sound through the city and women dressed in white parade through the streets and wash church steps in honor of the Virgin Mary.

January 12: Royal Chitwan National Park

"Blessed are the curious, for they shall have adventure." -L. Drachman
The first national park in Nepal, Chitwan National Park is one of Napal's most popular tourist destinations.

January 11: Blue Mountains

There are 7 national park areas and a conservation reserve on this vast plot of land located about 90 minutes from Sydney. It houses the Giant Staircase, which provides nature walks for visitors. There are also railways to visit and museums, as well as antique shopping and bush walking.

January 10: Moorea

Moorea is in the Society Islands of the French Polynesia. It is a few minutes away from Tahiti by plane. A wide, shallow lagoon surrounds the jagged peaks of the island, which has played a backdrop to some older Hollywood films. Charles Darwin was inspired for his theory regarding coral reefs while looking at Moorea from Tahiti. And like most islands, there are many activities to do and places to see, and restaurants to eat at.

January 8/9: Tokyo Tower

The Tokyo Tower in Shiba Park, Tokyo is about 30 feet taller than the actual Eiffel Tower, for which it pays homage. So what's so cool about the Tokyo Tower that would make people want to go visit? It is the second tallest artificial structure in Japan for one. Foot Town, located at the base of the tower also houses museums and restaurants for tourists to visit.

January 7: Antarctica

Most people visit Antarctica while on a cruise, or they work there. It is beautiful, full of wild life, and extremely cold. I don't know if I could take the weather, but I'd do just about anything to see a penguin in real life, in its own environment. I don't think I'll ever have a chance to travel here, but maybe on a cruise I could fit it in briefly.

January 6: TRAINS!!

The Blue Train:
This train sounds a little too stuffy and high society for me. The dinners are jacket and tie for men and elegant wear for women. I don't know if I would want to do that every night. Also, they describe lunch as "smart-casual." I guess that explains why it is 10,000 dollars a person, one way during the low season. Shesh. (The scenery however, BEAUTIFUL!!)

Palace on Wheels:
I am much more likely to go on this tour. They are much less expensive and less formal. Plus, I have always wanted to see India, and this train offers many different routes that I could take.
My dream vacation would be the following option: COLORS OF RAJASTHAN (11 NIGHTS / 12 DAYS) You travel to Delhi first, which is the historical center and modern capital of India. Then to Agra, where the Taj Mahal resides. Then to Jaipur, where you can ride elephants to a pink paradise in town. Then to Udaipur to see majestic palaces that seem to float in green-water lakes. Then to Jodhpur, the Brahmin's Blue City, home of many beautiful gardens. Finally you go to Jaisalmer to see a sunset over the sand dunes. Then they return you back to Delhi, all for a fee of less than 3,000 per person.

Trans-Siberian Express:
This is a great way to see everything from Russia to China. It's definitely a trip that a sightseer would want to take at some point. They offer smaller tours up to expansive tours that go for two weeks!

Glacier Express:
This train provides a day trip through the snow. It goes from Zermott to St. Moritz in about 7 hours and passes through 91 tunnels and over 291 bridges.

El Tren a Las Nubes: HOLY SHIT!!!
This train is freaking SCARY!! I don't know if I would be able to go up to these heights. But it would be amazing to try. It is one of the world's three highest railways. It's called the Train to the Clouds, and was actually build by an American engineer, Richard Maury. It practically denies the previous funicular system of train engineering.

January 5: La Mezquita

One day I will visit Spain, and this will be on the top of my places to go. It houses the second largest mosque in the world, which took 200 years to complete. It was later converted into a cathedral. The doors to enter the cathedral are ornate and uninviting. Visitors say that pictures do it no justice and to see it in person is the most amazing experience.

January 4: Key West

One of the low-lying islands of the Florida Keys. Hopefully since this is actually in the United States, one day I will be able to go. There are dozens of resorts and hotels to stay at and they even offer "green travel" by carpooling and offering bicycles for travel. They also have hybrid taxis, which I think is incredible! They have green lodging options and eco attractions like the Butterfly Conservation and Coral Reef State Park. They also have a Marine Sanctuary, Dolphin Research Center and Turtle Hospital along with many other sites. Visitors are encouraged to hike, walk, kayak, kite surf, sail, paddleboard, and snorkel. I would travel here for the economic options for sure!!

January 3: Courchevel

This place is in the French Alps, and although I'm not one for cold weather or skiing necessarily, the scenery would be worth it. They also have 3 child care centers for different ages, so you don't have to leave your kids at home. They have skiing classes for children, which I think is really awesome. They have bowling, which I would probably be frequenting while everyone else was on the lifts. Kids can also build igloos, go "rock climbing" (not on real rocks), design workshops, kite flying, and a Native American "Indian Camp." Heck, I would go just for the kids activities. :)

January 1/2: La Digue Island

This is a tropical paradise in the Seychelles. I can see myself reading a book by the shore, basking in bright sun. There are many small uninhabited islands that you can explore. I don't personally fish, but there is apparently really good fishing spots also. I'm scared to death to dive, so I probably wouldn't sign up for that either, but they have a dive spot map with miles of diving areas. There are actually 8 beaches that are all beautiful and peaceful. They even have ox carts (along with buses and taxis) to take you where you would like to go. They have pizzerias in town, as well as Creole and authentic cuisine.
Someday...
